Sisters for Somalia: MKU Sorority, Inc., MADRE, & You
Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM (EDT)
In late July of this year, The United Nations officially announced that as a result of the worst drought seen in East Africa in six decades and long standing civil conflict, Somalia's food supply is exhausted. 11 million people's lives are at risk of fatal hunger as thousands of Somalis have already died as a result of widespread malnutrition.
How did it get to this point?
What can you do to save lives?
*Send questions ahead of time to firstname.lastname@example.org*
According to Oxfam, a famine is officially declared "when malnutrition rates climb higher than 30 percent and when more than two people out of 10,000 die each day, and when food is limited to less than 2,100 calories a day per person."
Your awareness and action can save lives.
